The 4AD style of pop has never quite caught on in Singapop but its influence has been embedded in Astreal, a new band that formed after the demise of Breed. Maybe this country is just too pragmatic for a sound that basically involves your capacity to switch off from routine to relax in a cascade of brooding, soothing soundscapes. Stay Awake is the exceptional example of Astreal's power to blend techno pop in a basic rock format. And if you want more, there's more. Stay Awake comes from the band's unreleased album, OuijaBlush, which they hope to release very soon.
